SeaWorld San Diego: Ocean Life to High-Thrills Rides
SeaWorld San Diego combines the thrill rides and family entertainment of an amusement park with the oceanarium experience of live animals on display (and in performance).
In the rides department, the park has just debuted what reigns as the tallest and the fastest roller coaster in San Diego: the Electric Eel. (The Tidal Twister debuts next year, meanwhile.) There’s a whole slew of coasters, waterslides, spinners, teacup twirls, shot-n-drops, and other rides, covering the gamut from tyke-friendly attractions to adrenaline-pumping, scream-worthy monsters. And awesome San Diego views await from the Skytower and the Bayside Skyride gondola.
The SeaWorld tanks and pools exhibit a variety of marine life from all over the world, including orcas, bottlenose dolphins, beluga whales, walruses, sea lions, sea otters, sharks, penguins, and sea turtles. And the park’s probably best known for its animal shows, from Orca Encounter to Sea Lions Live.
Halloween at SeaWorld San Diego
Speaking of shows, there are more than a few special Halloween-themed family presentations going down right now at SeaWorld San Diego. They include the inaugural Sesame Street Halloween Parade featuring a who’s-who of neighborhood characters—from Bert and Ernie to Cookie Monster and Big Bird—as well as trick-or-treating and decorated floats, taking place on Saturday and Sunday evenings through October 28th. It’s part of the annual Halloween Spooktacular festival, which will also feature daily holiday performances by SeaWorld’s “sea lion comedy team” in Clyde & Seamore’s Big Halloween Bash.
