4th of July in San Diego

Before you know it, America’s birthday will be booming, flashing, and fanfaring through its 242nd go-round. The Fourth of July is always a mega-party here in America’s Finest City, and you’ll have your choice of holiday celebrations as a guest of ours at Hotel Republic!

Come spend your Independence Day at our Autograph Collection hotel, and meanwhile check out some of the festivities going down within easy reach, pyrotechnic and otherwise.

The Big Bay Boom

The biggest fireworks show in San Diego County goes down along the San Diego waterfront in the form of the Big Bay Boom, and a Hotel Republic guest room or suite sets you up in hassle-free reach! At 9 PM, fireworks launch in coordinated resplendence from barges stationed on San Diego Bay at Shelter Island, Harbor Island, Embarcadero North, Seaport Village, South Embarcadero, and the Coronado Ferry Landing. With your perch at our hotel, you’re mere blocks from the Embarcadero and Seaport Village vantages—no need to worry about parking!

SeaWorld Fourth of July Fireworks

You can also mark Independence Day in the company of various finned and flippered creatures at SeaWorld San Diego, which’ll put on a roughly 15-minute fireworks spectacular on July 4th beginning at 9:40 PM. Other pyrotechnic razzle-dazzle takes place at the oceanarium theme park on Saturday, June 30th and Sunday, July 1st as well as the Saturday and Sunday following the Fourth of July.

A Coronado Fourth

The island of Coronado puts on its own fabulous Fourth of July bash that includes a patriotic parade down Orange Avenue from 1stStreet to Churchill Place at 10 AM; Art in the Park activities at Spreckels Park from 8 AM to 4 PM; a Spreckels Park concert by the Coronado Community Band at 4 PM; and then (naturally) some high-powered fireworks above Glorietta Bay at 9 PM.

Ocean Beach Festivities

More fireworks action awaits up in Ocean Beach, where the skyrockets will kick off at the Ocean Beach Pier at 9 PM.

Old Town Fourth of July

Not far north of Hotel Republic, meanwhile, Old Town San Diego State Historic Park will host its own all-day Fourth of July soiree from 11 AM to 4 PM. It’ll be, as always, a family-friendly, throwback sort of affair with such old-timey contests as cherry-pit spitting and egg tosses.
