One of the reliable highlights of the Comic-Con experience is the costume contest called the Masquerade, the 44th running of which takes place on Saturday, July 21 at 8:30 PM in the Convention Center’s Ballroom 20. The getups on display are all home-made, so you can always expect a fabulous display of creativity—and a who’s-who of iconic characters—taking the Masquerade stage to vie for awards. Of course, Comic-Con costumes are by no means restricted to the contestants in the Masquerade: Many attendees, young and old, come dressed as their favorite goodies, baddies, and anti-heroes for the occasion, so the people-watching is on a whole other level.
